Maintenance Manager

Purpose - To manage and direct all maintenance activities at this site to ensure maximum operational potential is realized for the entire factory operation. This includes all maintenance functions consisting of departmental budgets, computerized maintenance management systems, preventive/predictive maintenance programs, electrical, electronics and programming, process, packaging, waste treatment, stockroom, building and grounds and the maintenance and operation of the boiler systems. Development, coordination and execution of maintenance related capital budget items in concert with engineering. Writing of Capital Appropriation requests along with monthly environmental duties. 

  • Participate in the GFSI/FSSC22000 yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures & corrective actions.
  • Controls cost through effective budget planning and management and an aggressive approach to maintenance.
  • Protects assets against loss through development, implementation and monitoring of appropriate and comprehensive predictive and preventive maintenance programs and practices.
  • Trains maintenance staff on effective maintenance practices, including effective use of the computerized maintenance management system, problem solving tools, maintenance scheduling and analysis of maintenance related data and equipment histories.
  • Coordinates major maintenance and project requirements with all other departments, to include major downtime activities and downtime periods.
  • Sets and evaluates departmental goals and objectives through a collaborative effort with maintenance department supervision, and factory staff.
  • Ensures parts availability to minimize downtime
  • Conducts special studies as assigned or self-initiated to improve departmental services, factory operations or satisfy external requirements.
  • Provides direction for maintaining and operating all physical equipment in conjunction with the factory manufacturing operations to support daily operations by assuring that demands for steam, HVAC and compressed air utilities are met 100% of the time. Similarly, emergency repairs to production equipment are performed satisfactorily in the least time possible to maximize factory production potential. 
  • Develops department employee relations by continued communication of all information affecting them and through conducting of monthly departmental safety meetings. This is further enhanced by employee and personal participation in the Factory Safety committee.
  • Promoting and coordinating on-going technical and management developmental programs for both maintenance technician and supervisory personnel to improve job performance and enhance their supervisory/management potential through attendance at seminars, vendor information, on-site technical/supervisory training, technical certifications, professional society memberships and encouraging advanced technical/formal education.
  • Maintain the facility and equipment per Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Shares Best Maintenance Practices with other Dianne’s Fine Desserts maintenance departments by establishing contacts for regular communication.
  • Acts as internal consultant in his/her facility and makes specific recommendations based on failure modes to improve asset reliability based on analysis of process and failure data when needed.
  • Acts as a plant-level leader in regards to fixed asset inspections and reliability.
  • Directly manages project installations and retains ownership through start-up and project closure.
  • Evaluate production and packing needs for Capital Equipment.
  • Generate Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) and manage capital projects and spend.
  • Position requires that the individual not only have a thorough understanding of current, accepted methods and solutions and equipment, but they also stay up to date on new technologies, etc. to deliver the most cost effective solutions to Dianne’s Fine Desserts.
  • Perform all monthly environmental requirements per plant work plan (wastewater, potable water, etc).
  • Participate in cost out  and lean initiatives (e.g. autonomous maintenance)
  • Manage the COGZ work order program 

  • This position requires a minimum of a High school degree and minimum up to 3-5 years of managerial
  • This position requires 7-10 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Must have strengths and demonstrated knowledge in the following areas: Packaging/Mechanical Operation, Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics/Controls, HVAC, Boiler Systems, and PLC experience.
  • Must possess excellent motivational, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal & written)
  • A proficiency in standard windows based programs is required (Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project) and a detailed knowledge of at least one maintenance management software package.
  • Broad, in-depth experience in food manufacturing facility requirements, including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance programs
Ability to manage several tasks concurrently while working independently
