Assistant Buyer

The position is responsible for assisting the warehouse department in carrying out all shipping, purchasing and project operations.  Specific essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:      
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:                           
  • Coordinate the daily review of purchasing materials.
  • Coordinate cycle count list.    
  • Assist with internal warehouse project processes.
  • Receive and distribute incoming expedited shipments.
  • Work with production scheduling and to ensure materials are here in time of need.
  • Assist with expiration of ingredients and coordinate material expiration process.
  • Assist with trouble shooting raw material issues.
  • Assist with departmental budget.
  • Must participate in GFSI Audit                                                   
  • Give directions to drivers.                                                  
  • Check drivers in and make sure that the loading and unloading sheets are filled out correctly.
  • Answer phone calls and emails.
  • Fax, copy and file paperwork.                                                                                   
  • Abide by all safety regulations
  • Performs all other duties as assigned       
  • High school graduate or equivalent(GED).
  • 2 years of related working experience
  • Inventory control, warehouse/logistics experience, good customer service skills, must possess strong math skills, listening and comprehension skills. 
  • Troubleshoot issues with little supervision.
  • Resourceful and good problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, MS Office, JDE software.
  • Strong data entry skill, typing, 10-key.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others.
  • Detailed and meticulous with good organizational skills.
  • Must be articulate, tactful and professional at all times
  • Superb interpersonal and discretionary skills.
  • Flexible to work other shifts / hours as needed
  • Self-motivated individual
